We have heard the names William Wardroper, Thomas Wardropper, James and Thomas Wedderop, Archibald Vedderop, Alexander Wardroper, Thomas Vardrop, John atte Warderobe, Thomas de la Wardrobe and the list goes on. Our interest in genealogy has to do with American Waldrops and the kinship of these American Waldrops. Until we know who our American relatives are, we plan to ignore our relatives on the eastern shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

We believe all of our Waldrops came from Great Britain. For the time being, that is enough for us. The American Waldrops are more than we will be able to prove in our lifetime. We'll leave our European ancestry to future generations.

The first 100 years of Waldrops in America is at best speculation. A better definition would probably be a story with little or no evidence of fact. We will try here to tell you what we know and what we believe, and not confuse the two, about the first 100 years the Waldrops were in America.

Our story begins with the Michael Wardrope we have given a birthdate of about 1645. The map above shows what today's State of Virginia looked like in 1750 and where and when the Waldrops were from 1672 to 1772 or thereabouts.
We have addressed each of the Waldrops we are aware of from 1645 to 1745.  To see the data we have gathered and read our opinions see our Table of Contents
Please remember as you read that our OPINIONS are in BLUE.  The FACTS as we know them are in BLACK.
