The group we call Unknown is the most puzzling of our groups.  The first participant in this group said he was sure he descended from John Waldrop who was in McNairy Co., TN in 1830-1850, then in Pontotoc Co., MS.  He said he had relied on other’s to connect himself to John, son of Jechonias, then to Luke and Christian.  His DNA results showed no relationship to Luke and Christian.

Shortly afterward, a participant who descends from Ezekiel Rufus and Rebecca Clements Waldrop joined the project.  This participant lives today within a few miles of where Ezekiel Rufus and Rebecca are buried and can point out his ancestor’s graves in the church cemetery a few miles nearby.  Researchers had given Ezekiel Rufus to Benjamin Waldrop, son of John of Amelia Co., VA.  His DNA matched perfectly with the descendant of John Waldrop of McNairy Co., TN.

Since then, two more participants have joined the project, one from Ezekiel Rufus through another son and one through John of McNairy through another son.

This line of Waldrops is truly a puzzle.
