Abner Waldrop

Joseph Waldrop was born about 1794 in SC.  He died 1860/1870 in Habersham Co., GA.  He married Tabitha D. McIntyre, probably in SC.  He was in GA before 1830.  Joseph won land in the 1832 Georgia Land Lottery, but sold it in 1833.  He lived on a portion of Lot 105, District 11 until he died.  His wife outlived him.  She was enumerated on the 1870 Habersham Co., GA census.  His youngest son, George E. Waldrop sold Lot 105, District 11 in 1886.  Joseph left no Will.  His parents and where in SC he was born is unknown.

Joseph and Tabitha had 7 children:  Mahulda C, b. 1822; Hortense C., b. 1825; Samuel Isaac, b. 1825; Perrin, b. 1826; Louis Lee, b. 1833; Joseph Wesley, b. 1834; and George E., b. 1844.  We have two participants from Perrin and one from Samuel Isaac in the DNA project.

Perrin Waldrep had 7 children, George Amos, b. 1851; Amy Elizabeth, b. 1853; Louis Elijah, b. 1854; James Lafayette, b. 1855; Joseph Robert, b. 1858; Namon H., b. 1859 and Albert Perrin, b. 1860.  One of our participants descends from Louis Elijah, one from James Lafayette.

Our three participants match each other perfectly.  They do not match any of the other participants in the project.

One researcher has said Joseph and Tabitha came to GA from Abbeville Co., SC.  A fire destroyed Abbeville Co. records.  Another researcher was told by his grandmother that their family was part of the Oglethorp, GA colony.  Either of these statements could indicate an immigrant ancestor other than Michael.

Unless a nonpaternal event occurred, these Waldrop men have a different immigrant than the majority of Waldrops in America.
