There is a family that almost exclusively uses the spelling Wardrip instead of the Waldrop, drip, drep, drup, droup the rest of us use.  DNA has proven that this is, indeed, another family.  We have three participants from this line.  They all descend from James Wardrope who died in Wake Co., NC in 1790.  One from Edward, the Revolutionary War soldier, through his son, Eli; one we believe from Edward through his son, Edward and one from Younger who went to Breckenridge Co., KY.

Many researchers have called James Waldrop who died in Harmontown, MS in 1833 a son of this James.  They are wrong.  This James Waldrop matches our Michael Group, thus he descends from the SC Waldrops and not the Wake Co., NC Wardrops
