My Waldrops, Your Waldrops, Our Waldrops

There is DNA that passes male to male throughout the ages unchanged. Therefore, a Waldrop male today carries the same DNA that his Waldrop ancestor carried a century ago or many centuries ago.

The vast majority of our participants in the Waldrop DNA Project carry the same DNA. We believe these participants descend from Michael Waldrop who we believe was born about 1645. None of our participants have proven themselves to be descendants of Michael, but some have come close.

We have four groups of participants that are definately NOT related to Michael. However, each group has other participants within their group with matching DNA. Whether these four groups represent a completely different line of Waldrops from a different immigrant ancestor or a nonpaternal event such as adoption or bastardy is not known at this time. We hope in the future with more research and more DNA participants we will be able to answer that question.
